Mythbusting! Catholic Schools

Alliance of Mission District Catholic Schools

Myth: Only Catholics can attend Catholic schools.

Fact: All families from all faith backgrounds are welcome and celebrated at Catholic schools. Non-Catholic children are welcome to participate in all prayer and worship opportunities.

Myth: Catholic schools do not hire qualified teachers.

Fact: All Bay Area Dioceses require that teachers have a CA teaching credential or be enrolled in a credential program at time of hire. A large percentage of all teachers in the Catholic school network possess MA degrees.

Myth: Catholic schools only accept academically gifted, special needs or at-risk students.

Fact: Catholic schools accept all children regardless of their academic ability and provide meaningful instruction so all children can succeed. Children who are gifted and challenged all have a place within a Catholic school.
