The primary function of the Board of Education is to assist the Archbishop and the Department of Catholic Schools (DCS) in developing policy, and to update and assess compliance of policy as authorized by the Archbishop and the Superintendent of Catholic Schools. Implementation of policy is the responsibility of the Superintendent of Catholic Schools and the Department of Catholic Schools.

The Board holds the Superintendent of Catholic Schools responsible for policy implementation.
